Beat The Bezoar!

Pauline Oliveros, 1932-1916.

Last week, on Thanksgiving, the trailblazingly great Pauline Oliveros passed. 150w, 300w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" />

My show last Wednesday was a tribute to her and her music. You can listen here on my Mixcloud page.

Horse Sings From Cloud (Accordion & Voice)
Duo for Accordion & Bandoneon (The Wanderer)

The Well (The Well & The Gentle) 150w, 300w, 768w" sizes="(max-width: 518px) 100vw, 518px" />

But they’re from California…!

From an all-to-memoryflood-inducing blog post on sexism in the music industry (what? you say. That never happens!) I yoinked this most excellent meme: 150w, 500w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" />

During my PolyGram days, my friend had the famous weiner-in-socks pic of the Peppers displayed prominently in her cube. One afternoon ChaimGene Simmons and Paul Stanley clomped through our office, all raw leather, chest hair and chains jingling, leaving a trail of overpoweringly fetid after-shave behind them. They stopped briefly in front of her cube, looked at the photo and ChaimGene said, “Huh. They’re not that big.” and then went about their business with her boss.

So many stories but that’ll do for now.

I caught Fred Frith live at Trinosophes last Saturday night. He was brilliant. Better than John Cage with a guitar. Having reserved seats really helped, also ours were closer to the front.

No, he doesn’t look like this anymore.

Another year, another fundraiser, another 2.5 hours of me feebly talking. Thanks to all who called and pledged.

I suppose a schtick would do well, but I’ve never been one for stunt-type schticks. Maybe I should rediscover my theremin impressions again…

RIP Ravi Shankar. You inspired many.

Fannypack Infestation

Morticians Feast

It has been a while since I’ve had the occasion to do a Halloween show on Halloween. Yeah, I know…like you’ll never hear creepy bedtime drones on my show at any other time.

Nomming Its Own Intestines

Nice long jazz tracks I was planning to play anyway, but fit well with my having to train another padewan DJ. Ah, the cycle of life.

no-one can hear you

Surplus Depot Z15

Summer 2012 sporadic squash supplements…

It’s been a hot summer. I’ve been abysmal with keeping these posts up to date. Previous shows will follow soon. I found a Wire Tapper CD that kind of ruled.  This week’s show:

Soulstice Poultice

When isn’t it mousse?

me me me me meme

“Yukkuri itte kudasai!”

Last week’s show was an all out Japanese weirdfest. I like to do these at least once a year, as it gives me an opportunity to rediscover everything I love about crazy Japanese music. I need to crank up this stuff more often.
