The reading is from the novel "Victors" by Heather Buchanan, based on a true story of African American jazz musician soldiers who served in World War One France.

The Cuban-born pianist is the son of Chucho Valdés. His music draws on styles including Afro-Cuban, Latin Jazz, bebop, and danzon (dahn-ZOHN). There's also a 9pm ticketed show.
The play will feature live music. A local improv team will open the show.
