The OUT Ensemble is a new wind quintet of LGBTQ+ musicians, based in Ann Arbor. It's dedicated to increasing the representation of the queer community in classical music.
This will feature a traditional Japanese dance, accompanied by music on shakuhachi flute, taiko drums, and koto.
Don Slepian has built a discography of mostly beat-free electronic music dating back to the early ’70s.
The vocal chamber ensemble will perform plainsong, early polyphony, and more complex Renaissance works. A pre-concert talk begins at 6:45 pm.
The group includes two musicians and singers who played with The Band's Levon Helm.
